What inspires you to write?

I'm always curious about what motivates writers to write? There's the simple understanding that we like to record life's events from our own perspectives. Then there is a sense that we can connect to one another through words. There is an element of legacy—that we want to leave an impact on other's lives.

What inspires me? It could be as simply as a good melody on the radio, a beautiful blooming tree on my drive home from work, or simply the undeniable urge to sort through my own emotions. I've been journaling since I was a little girl, and that freedom of expression just grew with age. And once I could tap into that well of wordsmithing for myself, I learned how to funnel it for other people as well. That's how I became a technical editor.

But I never forgot my passion for creative writing. The struggle is real, when you get too close to your own piece, and you just need to bounce ideas off of a sounding board. You need someone more objective to tell you whether you're on the right track. I have a roledex of friends who fulfill that role in my life, and I only hope that I can be that for others.

What inspires you??
